Hellooooo September! The past month has been full of interesting developments including a move to Brooklyn and a trip to Cuba – more info on those coming up in posts later. For this months wallpaper I decided to keep away from anything fall-related and make this mudcloth inspired wallpaper. I did this for two reasons: I’m from Ghana and this design is so close to home and second, I just launched a new business selling African Mudcloth home decor! Another one for mama! I designed these gift tags after designing and using this printable Mother’s Day gift wrap. It looked so good that I decided to make some complimentary gift tags.
There are 4 beautiful designs; all you need to do is print them out on copy paper or anything slightly heavier and cut!
Have I ever told you my one true talent is quoting Beyoncé lyrics whenever appropriate? In this case Beyoncé lyrics were the only acceptable phrases to be DIY-ed onto these tote bags – especially the hot sauce one. I discovered this technique from Pinterest (my new obsession) and although iron-on transfer pens are mostly used by embroiderers to transfer designs onto fabric, it can be used in so many ways! I especially love this DIY because it requires so few materials. Keep reading for the easy-to-follow tutorial to make these über cool tote bags that will have you feeling like a queen; Queen Bey to be exact.
I have a very serious fixation with triangles. It’s something even my mother noticed when I was a child. But it’s a very valid fixation – triangles are a creative’s best friend. The clean lines and sharp angles make any design look 100x better – case in point, these freebies.
Both of these feature my new favorite saying, “Carpe the damn diem, girl.” (This may or may not be my email signature).
