Thomas and I recently had our housewarming party and among the many things that people brought as gifts were a bunch of lavender and a container of blackberries. Not the typical bottles of wine and I freaking loved it! These two gifts inspired this blackberry lavender smash cocktail because they remind me of a cozy feeling — which is a perfect transition into fall.
This cocktail recipe like most of the other ones I’ve shared can be made as large batch drinks, but with a little tweaking. If you’re going to serve this to a large group of people I recommend setting up an assembly line and making them glass by glass because it tastes better that way. If you don’t have the patience, a pitcher would surely work out as well — just have some extra “smash” on the side so people can add to their drinks.
What you’ll need (per glass):
- 4-5 blackberries
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Lavender simple syrup (here’s an easy recipe)
- 1.5 oz bourbon
- Cream of coconut

The how-to:
step one: Muddle blackberries and lemon juice together and spoon into a glass, top with ice
step two: In a cocktail shaker add the lavender single syrup, bourbon and cream of coconut and shake, shake, shake!
step three: Pour shaken mixture over the ice and blackberry muddle
step four: Garnish with blackberries and some lavender, and serve

This drink is inspired by The Good Drink’s Coconut Rosewater Blackberry Smash recipe, which has been a favorite of mine for some time time now. I guarantee you’re going to love this blackberry lavender smash recipe or your money back (not really, but you get the sentiment). I have a good amount of leftover lavender simple syrup from this recipe (definitely make a batch to keep), so don’t be surprised about how many lavender-including recipes that I’m going to be posting. Any requests on what type of drink to make next? Drop me a comment!
