If the title didn’t give it away already, this mini naked cake requires no baking (yeah you heard that right – ZERO) and should cost you only about $7 to make. Which makes making this cake the perfect *sweet* gesture.
What you’ll need:
- Store-bought pound cake
- Round cookie cutter
- Buttercream frosting
- Edible dried rose petals
- Rose water
- Red food coloring (optional)
The How-To:
step one: Use the cookie cutter to cut out circular pieces of your pound cake. Depending on the shape of the pound cake you get, you might have to cut your poundcake lengthwise first so you have ~2 inch wide layers of pound cake. 4 circular pieces make for the best height for a mini cake.
step two: Now its frosting time! Scoop about 1 cup of frosting into a bowl, add a splash of rose water, some dried rose petals, and a bit of red food dye if you’re using it, and mix. Measurements here aren’t really strict so experiment as you please.
step three: Cover each pound cake piece with a generous layer of frosting, then carefully stack them.
step four: Garnish the top of the cake with more dried rose petals, roses, strawberries, edible gold leaf…whatever you like!
