People, go to the grocery store right now. Gather all of the peaches you can in one hand. Gather all of the lemons you can in the other. You’re not going to be able to get enough of this peach lemonade, so don’t say I didn’t warn you! One of the best things about this delicious recipe is the use of fresh ingredients, and with fruits their juiciest in the summer you can’t go wrong with peach and lemon. Lemonade is my summertime staple so I’m glad I’ve found a new way to switch it up.
It is only fair that I admit that I came up with this recipe while listening to Beyoncé’s new album for the first time, but I decided to give it some time before sharing so I didn’t look like a crazy fan. But I am a crazy fan. What I’m saying is that I hope this peach lemonade reminds you of Beyoncé LOL.
what you need:
- 4 peaches, pitted and chopped
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup honey
- Juice from 5 lemons
the how-to:
step one: combine the peaches, water and honey in a small saucepan over medium heat.
step two: as soon as it starts to boil turn down heat and simmer for a couple of minutes.
step three: allow to cool for a few minutes, then pour all the contents of the saucepan into a blender and blend to a very smooth purée.
step four: sieve the peach mixture into a pitcher and discard the solids.
step five: add the lemon juice and refrigerate for two hours before serving.
Short and sweet! You could switch out the honey with 3/4 cups of sugar, or reduce the sweetness to your liking. If you want a more crisp flavor, boil the peaches with less water and then replace that water with lemon-flavored seltzer before refrigerating. It also wouldn’t hurt to make it a party by adding a splash of bourbon!
